This is a friendly reminder to all current certified umpires, and umpires who have been observed seeking a new certification for 2018. Umpires who have not completed the 2018 Rules/Umpire Test, must do so by December 21, 2018 to maintain their certification, or to become certified. The testing sites will be taken down December 22 to prepare for the 2019 tests. Outdoor umpires must score a minimum grade of 95% and arena umpires must score a minimum grade of 94%.
As the USPA Umpires LLC, UMP Program continues to develop, safe and consistent umpiring is an important aspect of our growing sport. The UMP Reimbursement Program is equally important to USPA Member Clubs in achieving professional or certified umpires, and reimbursing clubs a portion of funds for acquiring umpire services. Umpires must be logged in as a USPA member to take the Rules/Umpire Test. To complete the Rules/Umpire test, please click the link here.
Umpires not meeting certification requirements will not be considered a certified umpire for 2019. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Maggie Mitchell.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
