USPA MEMBERSHIP

BECOME A MEMBER

The USPA aspires to congregate and highlight the special-ness of the polo community and keep the passion for the sport alive. We do this through you, our members and member clubs who appreciate the heritage and history of our unique sport. USPA Membership runs on an annual basis from January 1 through December 31 of each calendar year regardless of application acceptance. USPA Members have access to exclusive content and special offers and can easily apply, maintain and update their membership through the website. (Please not that membership fees are not pro-rated.)

TYPES OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS

For those who come together to play with or against each other–we value camaraderie and sportsmanship–both humans and horses and those who support our oldest equestrian sport in all ways.

Lifetime: $2,500

A Lifetime Member shall have the same benefits as a Registered Player Member or an Affiliate Member, as the case may be, for the balance of that individual’s life. A Lifetime Member shall not be required to pay annual dues after being accepted as a Lifetime Member. A Lifetime Member shall sign the USPA Member Terms and Conditions each year and shall indicate whether they want a handicap and/or USPA provided member insurance each year.

Registered Player: $150

A Registered Player Member shall be a U.S. Citizen registered through an Active Member or Affiliate Member Club and shall enjoy all individual benefits and obligations of the Association.

Affiliate Player: $150

An Affiliate Player Member shall be an individual who is not a U.S. Citizen, but is registered through an Active Member or Affiliate Member Club. An Affiliate Player Member shall enjoy all the individual benefits and obligations of the Association with the following exceptions: an Affiliate Player shall not be eligible to be selected as a Club Delegate for an Active Member Club; shall not serve on the Board of Governors of the Association and shall not be eligible to vote for any member of the Board of Governors of the Association.

Social Non-Playing: $75

A Social Non-Playing Member of the Association shall receive all member benefits provided to Registered Players of the Association except that Social Non-Playing Members are not handicapped and are not eligible to participate in Association events and are not entitled to vote on Association matters. A Social Non-Playing Member wishing to be handicapped and to participate in Association Events may become a Registered Player or Affiliate Member, where appropriate, by paying the difference in annual fee and requesting a handicap.

Student: First year FREE, $50 renewal

A Student Member shall be any member who is under the age of nineteen (19) on the date of application, who is also a member of any member club, and who is taking part in an Intercollegiate or Interscholastic Program at any College, University, Secondary School or Youth Program. Student Members are not handicapped and are not entitled to vote on Association matters. A Student Member may request a handicap at no extra charge through an Active Member Club. Student Members who are over the age of 19 and not a member of any College, University, Secondary School or Youth Program shall be limited to two full calendar years in this classification of membership.

TYPES OF CLUB MEMBERSHIPS

Polo Clubs form in all configurations and sizes and come into existence for different reasons – no two are the same.

RENEW CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Active Club: $200

Shall be represented by a voting Delegate to the Association, shall be located within the United States and shall, upon election to annual membership in the Association, share all privileges and obligations of the Association. These privileges include voting, hosting Association events, recommending handicaps and registering players. An Active Member Club shall, at all times, be obligated to apply and enforce the Constitution, By-Laws, Rules and directives of the Association.

College, University, Secondary School or Youth Program: $100

Club may select a non-voting Delegate who will receive all communications and publications of the Association. Colleges, Universities, Secondary Schools or Youth Programs may enter teams in Intercollegiate and Interscholastic competition but may not register players or recommend handicaps.

Affiliate Club: $200

Shall be represented by a non-voting Delegate to the Association, shall be a foreign Club or Association which competes with Active Member Clubs and shall, upon election to annual membership in the Association, share all privileges and obligations of the Association except those specifically prohibited. The privileges shared include hosting Association events, recommending handicaps and registering players. An Affiliate Member Club shall, at all times, be obligated to apply and enforce the Constitution, By-Laws, Rules and directives of the Association.

Associate Club: $150

Overseas clubs that wish to receive USPA communications and publications. Associate Member Clubs may select a non-voting Representative to the USPA but may not register players, recommend handicaps, host Association events or enjoy privileges other than those herein specifically granted.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP FAQ

Can I be a member of more than one club?

No, a member cannot be a member of two clubs at once, but you may change your club affiliation at any time.

How do I apply for an individual membership?

The best way to become a member of the USPA is by joining online. However, if you are unable to join online, you can request a hard copy of a membership form by emailing . membership@uspolo.org

How do I renew my membership?

The fastest way to renew your USPA membership is online. However, if you are unable to renew online, you can request a hard copy of a membership renewal form by emailing. membership@uspolo.org

When does my membership expire?

USPA Membership runs from January 1 through December 31 each year regardless of when the dues are paid. The USPA does not offer pro-rated dues.

Where do I find my member ID?

Your ID will be on your membership card, in the confirmation email you receive when you become a member, and within your online member profile.

How do I get a handicap?

To receive a handicap, the USPA must receive a recommendation from the Club Delegate where the member is affiliated. The USPA then verifies if the member has a handicap in any other country and will send the recommendation to the Circuit Handicap Chairman for approval. Once approved, the recommendation is forwarded to the National Handicap Chairman for final approval and entered.

What insurance is included in my USPA membership?

Two types of insurance are provided to our members through Equisure. There is an Excess Liability Policy as well as an Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Accident Policy.

When does my insurance start and end?

Liability insurance begins the day your membership payment is processed and concludes on December 31. For this reason, we suggest members join/renew online so coverage will start immediately.

When will I receive my membership card and official white book?

Typically, members receive these items within two weeks of joining or renewing.

When will I receive my Blue Book?

Distribution of the Annual Blue Book, the USPA commemorative Yearbook and Member Directory, will take place around mid-March. Any member joining or renewing after this date will receive their Blue Book approximately two weeks after joining.

When will I receive my Polo Players Edition?

The magazine will be delivered every month to the address associated with your membership unless you chose to opt out.

Do I need to be affiliated with a club to be a member of the USPA?

All members, except Social Non-Playing Members are required to be affiliated with a USPA Club in order to be a USPA Member.
