Harriet Alexander of the U.K.-based newspaper The Telegraph recently covered the East Coast Open and White Birch's subsequent victory at Greenwich Polo Club.

"Could polo in the US ever grow to be as enthusiastically-supported as in Argentina? Mariano Aguerre, veteran star of the sport and pillar of White Birch, laughed -- signing polo balls and champagne corks thrust into his hands by crowds of eager fans. 'In Argentina, they have the equivalent of a stadium in Central Park,' he said. 'Children grow up playing. It's part of our culture. But remember, in the 1930s Argentina was far behind. So of course it's possible that the US could regain its strength.'"
