I have been a USPA member and playing polo since 1999, learning how to play in Midland, Texas after watching my husband Kelly and his father Carlton play since 1979. I play in Houston, Texas, Big Horn, Wyoming and practice a bit at the Port Mayaca Polo Club in Okeechobee, Florida. Currently, I am serving as Governor-at-Large and am a member of the Safety Committee, the Women’s Committee, the Tournament Committee, the Executive Committee, and the Polo Development LLC Junior Committee. I serve as Chair of the sub-committee for the National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS).
Giving young polo players an opportunity and tournament series to play on the grass has been the greatest pleasure of my years with the USPA. Playing polo with my husband Kelly, members of our family, and many polo friends is a great joy. I am grateful to many great polo ponies that have kept me in the game for so long! It is important to give back to the sport that has given all of us so much, a lesson I have learned and appreciated watching many other successful polo volunteers.
If elected to serve again as Governor-at-Large, I will be diligent to keep up with the issues important to the USPA and give thoughtful consideration to how to advance the sport of Polo in the US for all levels and ages of the USPA membership.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
