USPA Membership and Handicap Coordinator
The USPA’s Membership and Handicap Coordinator assists with membership and handicap functions of the Association and provides administrative support to improve and enhance the communication, productivity and effectiveness of the USPA Services Division.
The position is within the USPA Services Division and reports to the USPA Membership and Handicap Director, responding to directives and communication objectives as mandated by the USPA Board of Governors, USPA Executive Committee, and the USPA Officers.
Reports Directly to: Membership and Handicap Director
Also Reports to: Executive Director of Services Chief Operating Officer & In-House Counsel
POSITION DESCRIPTION INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:
Membership
• Provide administrative support to the Membership and Handicap Director.
• Assist with maintenance and updates of USPA club and membership data.
• Assist with member renewals and retention strategies.
• Verify club insurance.
• Create member lists for publication and distribution.
• Run USPA member and club statistical reports.
• Perform administrative duties for USPA meetings as directed by the Membership and Handicap Director and the Executive Director of Services.
• Prepare minutes and organize advisory committee meetings.
Handicap
• Functions as backup to the Membership and Handicap Director specifically as it relates to on-call and urgent consultation in advance of games.
• Understand handicap policy and procedures.
• Enter handicap changes as necessary to membership and handicap database.
• Research foreign player handicaps for handicap meetings and reviews.
• Assist with handicap reviews.
Skills/ Requirements:
• Comprehensive knowledge of polo and USPA Rules.
• Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Strong problem solving, clear decision making, and critical thinking skills.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
