REGIONAL PRESIDENT'S CUP
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Regional President's Cup is a national tournament held at clubs nationwide since 1998. The 4- to 8-goal tournament returns to Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Polo Club (Carpinteria, California) with a field of five competitive teams. 2020 Champions BFBST Law will defend their title combining forces with BenSoleimani.com, and with the exception of returning 2019 champion Leigh Brecheen the combo will feature a brand new line-up. 2020 champion Alejandro Gonzalez will join Rancho Polo/Chogan.
Amongst the competition are Graduating Team USPA members Jacob Klentner and Jesse Bray (Klentner Ranch), and Team USPA Alumni Jim Wright and Remy Muller (BenSoleimani.com/BFBST Law).
Beginning in 2020, Regional President’s Cup tournaments held nationwide serve as a qualifying tournament for the National President’s Cup. The return of this tournament format will bring together teams representing USPA Member Clubs around the country and restore the relationship between the two trophies.
The 2021 National President’s Cup will be held at New Bridge Polo & Country Club (Aiken, South Carolina) at the height of the competitive season. The National President’s Cup will give priority entry to first and second place Regional President’s Cup teams of the same year.
As the country emerges out of the COVID-19 crisis, the USPA established opportunities to support USPA Member Club events through the use of the COVID-19 USPA Polo Tournament Stimulus Package, which provides eligible USPA Member Clubs with waived tournament fees, trophies or reimbursements, one professional umpire and $2,500 in prize money per tournament at no extra cost. Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Polo Club will be taking advantage of the program for this tournament.
