REGIONAL PRESIDENT'S CUP
Tournament History
The Regional President's Cup has been played at clubs nationwide since 1998 and was first played for at New Bridge Polo & Country Club in Aiken, South Carolina, in 2011. Alan Martinez and Eddy Martinez, two members of the 2018 and 2019 winning teams, will return to compete this year for Upatoi Green and Hardscrabble. Joining them will be three additional teams hoping to claim the 2020 trophy.
Beginning in 2020, Regional President’s Cup tournaments held nationwide will once again serve as a qualifying tournament for the National President’s Cup. The return of this tournament format will bring together teams representing USPA Member Clubs around the country and restore the relationship between the two trophies. The 2020 National President’s Cup will be held at New Bridge Polo & Country Club (Aiken, South Carolina) at the height of the competitive season. The National President’s Cup shall give priority entry to first and second place Regional President’s Cup teams of the same year.
As the country emerges out of the COVID-19 crisis, the USPA established opportunities to support USPA Member Club events through the use of the COVID-19 USPA Polo Tournament Stimulus Package, which provides eligible USPA Member Clubs with waived tournament fees, trophies or reimbursements, one professional umpire and $2,500 in prize money per tournament at no extra cost. Offered to each club for the first two USPA tournaments of 2020 following the COVID-19 USPA Tournaments and Events suspension, New Bridge Polo & Country Club will be taking advantage of the program for this tournament.
