THE VENUE

Mt. Brilliant is steeped in rich history and tradition. From its original owners to the rebirth that is taking place today, the stories of the farm unfold one after another and never cease to amaze. Several large parcels of land known as Poplar Hill and Old Lemons Mill have been acquired and today, Mt. Brilliant sprawls over 1,200 acres of well-manicured grasses, lined with horse fences dotted by several newly, renovated buildings and polo fields.

Played on some of the most beautiful and maintained fields in the Midwest, Mt. Brilliant in Lexington, Kentucky, has hosted Crab Orchard, Villa del Lago, Orchard Hill, Isla Carroll, Riverview, White Birch, Hillcroft, Sophisticated Living, Mt. Brilliant and Faraway polo teams. Some notable players to join include Memo Gracida, Julio Arellano, Julian Daniels, Sugar Erskine, Pelon Sterling, Hector Galindo, Bete Donovan, Nacho Figueras and Nic Roldan. The area is home to two world-acclaimed equine hospitals, Hagayard Davison McGee and Rood and Riddle, who have staff and paramedics on hand for all games.

Mt. Brilliant was also well known for its beautiful gardens, recognized in 2002 by the American Society of Landscape Architects Design Awards. Owner, Greg Goodman, has returned the gardens of Mt. Brilliant to their former splendor. The gardens include a vineyard, a kitchen garden full of berries, herbs and vegetables, a formal English flower garden surrounding a pond, lines of dogwood trees and rose bushes, and a twisting and winding taxus maze.
