FLORIDA CIRCUIT 8-GOAL SUPER-SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Florida Circuit 8-Goal Super-Series Championship's inaugural season will culminate on Sunday, April 23, at the National Polo Center - Wellington (NPC). An innovative effort spearheaded by the USPA Tournament Committee and the creation of the Florida Circuit 16-goal Super-Series Championship to increase teams and participation, the Florida Circuit 8-Goal Super-Series Championship has been a true testament of collaboration with participants experiencing the comforts of their home club while also vying for the opportunity to play at NPC.
Hosted across South Florida, four prestigious national tournaments served as qualifiers for the Super-Series Championship including three Regional President's Cup tournaments (Port Mayaca Polo Club in Okeechobee, Florida, International Polo School in Wellington, Florida, The Villages Polo Club in The Villages, Florida) and the Association Cup hosted by International Polo School in Wellington, Florida.
To reinforce the idea that all participation is encouraged, players were invited to compete in as many events as they would like on either the same team or on different teams, however, qualifying teams must maintain at least two of their original members in order to play in the championship.
Four talented teams will battle for the 8-Goal Super-Series title including Regional President's Cup qualifier champions Curator Polo (International Polo School) and D'Ambrose MD (The Villages Polo Club).
Claiming the first qualifier at Port Mayaca Polo Club, Iconica elected not to participate in the Super-Series Championship. As stated in the tournament conditions, invitations were extended to both finalists in the Regional President's Cup tournaments at the International Polo School and The Villages Polo Club, with Virginia Beach and Fross & Fross unable to compete. Due to weather conflicts and postponements, the final of the third qualifier, the Association Cup will be played following the conclusion of the Super-Series, allowing Association Cup finalists Marjing Polo and Watch Out to round out the competition in the Super-Series Championship.
Representing Team USPA is alumnus Nick Johnson (D'Ambrose MD). Learn more about the Florida Circuit 8-Goal Super-Series Championship here.
