The GAUNTLET OF POLO® is the sport’s newest and most challenging tournament series with an unprecedented $1M prize purse, and pits polo’s greatest athletes and their world-class ponies against one another in a fierce competition to be crowned GAUNTLET Champion. Every thrilling match from February 14 through April 21, 2019 will take place on the U.S. Polo Assn. Field and surrounding fields at the esteemed International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) in Wellington, Florida.
One of the key differentiations in this competition is that there are 16 teams, and these teams are playing consistently across a series of the United States Polo's Association's most prestigious national tournaments, beginning with the C.V. Whitney Cup that runs from February 14-24, 2019, continuing with the USPA Gold Cup® on March 1-25, and culminating with the U.S. Open Polo Championship® on March 27 - April 21, 2019. The GAUNTLET also features some of the world's finest 10 goal players, premier athletes who have a lifetime's worth of equine and polo achievements that requires a level of expertise shared by less than 1 percent of the polo population. This year's participating 10 goalers are Facundo Pieres, Polito Pieres, Sapo Caset, Hilario Ulloa, Gonzalito Pieres, and Nico Pieres.
GAUNTLET matches will be livestreamed on USPA Polo Network each week with the final airing on CBS Sports and CBS 12 locally on Sunday, April 28 at 2:00pm ET.
The final will also be aired on Monday, April 29, on CBS Sports Network at 8pm ET, and again on Eurosport and Dsport at 6:30pm CT with a TVG broadcast to follow in May.
