Saratoga Polo Association, LLC, in Greenfield Center, New York, is adding to the excitement of the already well-established team at Whitney Field in celebration of the 121st season opening on Friday, July 5. Along with Bob Bullock the ‘Voice of Saratoga Polo’ for 32 years (among many other duties which he has spearheaded throughout the years), Alan Edstrom will also be returning for his ninth season to be involved in everything happening outside the boards including sponsorships, events, and creating excitement in the stands. “We are thrilled to announce a new addition to the team, international polo legend and 5-goaler Pablo Dorignac who will be bringing the best players to the field from across the globe as Polo Team Director,” seasoned Managing Partner, Jim Rossi, said. “Also, Ed Armstrong will be managing tournaments as the new Polo Operations Manager.”

Ed Armstrong wants to focus on making Saratoga a fun place to play and stay for the players. Not only will Armstrong be helping with the logistics of putting together teams for the tournaments, but he has a keen sense for highlighting this exhilarating sport for those who want to give it a try or those who want to improve their skills.

Armstrong began playing polo in Massachusetts and Vermont in the late 1980s, starting the Byfield Polo Club in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He also played in New England, Kentucky and Virginia for thirty years. In 2004 Armstrong began a decade long career at the United States Polo Association (USPA), initially managing the Intercollegiate/Interscholastic Polo Program and working his way up to Director of Tournaments and Clubs.

Along the way, Armstrong became involved with the USPA's international efforts and worked with many teams, traveling from Argentina to England, India, Chile and China. He is currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the American International Polo Foundation (AIPF) as well as being involved in the off season with tournaments in Manipur, India, the birthplace of modern polo which features teams from all over the world.
