Westchester Polo Club (aka Newport Polo) located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, raised more than $7,000 for humanitarian aid for Ukraine with more than 250 attendees at the benefit premiere and associated events held on the eve of opening day of the Newport International Polo Series, presented by Turkish Airlines.

Contributing to the fundraising results for www.LUkraine.lu were silent auction proceeds featuring pieces by Ukrainian artists from art, fashion and brands that joined the cause, organized by Polo House Prive, the Ukraine team’s Global Tour sponsor, endorsed by the Ukrainian Polo Federation.

The first in a series of Cocktail Meet & Greet soirées this year, the fanfare continues all summer with team Meet & Greet events at popular destinations, sunsets from the rooftop vistas including the fabulous Brenton Hotel, the quintessential ambiance of the Clarke Cooke House, a sunset team sail and other iconic Newport experiences.

The Ukraine and USA polo teams glad handed supporters at a benefit screening of Polo Passport at Jane Pickens Theater and a cocktail reception sponsored by Pure Ins. Co. and Triton Ins. Agency at The Vanderbilt Auberge Resorts Collection - the official team lodging partner.

“We are very excited to have united sport and community on this occasion for a great cause,” explained Dan Keating, USA Captain and Polo Series founder. "And we are grateful for our generous sponsors and for the enthusiastic support from hundreds who joined us from throughout New England for these events on the eve of Opening Day and to enjoy Newport’s acclaimed restaurants and hotels.”

The Polo Series continues with matches every Saturday in June through September. International challengers from Spain, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Jamaica, England and South Africa, will be seen throughout the summer, commencing with Meet & Greet events on the eve of each match, as well as U.S. city rivals from Boston, Pittsburgh, Palm Beach and New York.
