Competition will begin in April at the Newport Polo’s outdoor arena and training facility in Newport County, Rhode Island. The regulation outdoor polo arena has professional footing, grading and night lighting for arena polo six days a week.

Then in June, July, August and September, a series of outdoor tournaments will culminate in Finals and consolations as the featured matches in the Newport International Polo Series, with a spectator audience of several thousand fans. Venues for the tournaments will include three of Newport’s best tournament fields, with the championship slated on BD Field at the Newport International Polo Grounds. An agenda of social events and entertainment for local experiences will round out the itineraries.

Newport Polo’s President and USPA Club Delegate Dan Keating commented, “All of our available resources are in effect to provide a first-rate competitive experience, with fields in prime condition, prize money provided by the USPA, and a trusted team of managers and officials for a thrilling series of tournaments." He continued, “Enthusiasm is at an all-time high for exciting competition following the spring season in Florida that witnessed an increase in tournaments and will provide a new experience for Polo Series fans to witness the best competitors in the Northeast.”

A professional video production of the championship and consolation matches will be submitted to the USPA Polo Network for consideration for on-demand viewing.

“It is exciting to bring more opportunities for regional polo competition to the Northeast hub of polo and bring back a summer women’s tournament, all as highlights in Northeast polo season this summer,” added Jordan.
