GAUNTLET CONTENDERS AND CHAMPIONS ASSEMBLE IN ENGLAND

High-goal action began in the United Kingdom with the 2022 Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy officially underway on Wednesday, May 4, at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club in Windsor, Berkshire, England.

Coming off a phenomenal Florida season where he captured both the USPA Gold Cup and U.S. Open Polo Championship with Pilot, American Mackenzie Weisz joins King Power to compete for the Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy and upcoming Cartier Queen’s Cup at Guards Polo Club in Windsor, England.

Of the nine teams competing for the coveted Prince of Wales trophy, sixteen GAUNTLET alumni take center stage to kick-off the 22-goal season. Six-time U.S. Open Polo Championship winner Facundo Pieres flips the script to team up with GAUNTLET rival Park Place, while former La Fe competitor Francisco Elizalde united with Pieres for a victory in their opening game of the season. Entering a second team in high-goal competition, Park Place Vaara features the familiar duo of Hilario Ulloa and Juan Britos, who have split their opening two games.

Pelon Stirling returns to competition following an injury sustained during GAUNTLET play, leading Monterosso alongside Team USPA member Matias Gonzalez. Twelve Oaks, featuring Tamera’s Magoo Laprida will square off against Park Place to determine a place in the final, while Great Oaks LL, led by 9-goaler and GAUNTLET competitor Juan Martin Nero defeated defending champions Thai Polo NP to secure their place in the first final of the British high-goal season.
