The Northeastern Circuit is ramping up for a series of USPA arena polo tournaments scheduled on upcoming Fall weekends, offering chances at serious prize money and mantel trophies to entice competition among rival clubs within the area.

Competition is already in high gear at the Westchester Polo Club's (a.k.a. Newport Polo Club) outdoor arena and training facility in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The regulation outdoor polo arena has professional footing, grading and night lighting for arena polo six days a week October through November and in the spring. The club continues to invest in arena upgrades, including a hardwired electronic scoreboard, a PA system and regular arena resurfacing and regrading for optimum playing conditions. Today, the club also offers a continual program through the summer to maximize opportunities to play for its polo club members.

The club organizes tournaments and chukkers, beginner classes for up-and-coming new players and weekly training and home games for interscholastic Varsity and JV teams and intercollegiate teams, including Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island) and Roger Williams University (Bristol, Rhode Island).

Currently, Yale Polo Club’s (Bethany, Connecticut) indoor arena is equally busy, as the facility will host club chukkers, interscholastic and intercollegiate polo now through the spring.

USPA Circuit Tournaments present an ideal forum for regional competition, especially for arena polo players looking to continue their season of competition during the best time in the New England region. Other competition incentives include $2,500 in USPA prize money, mantel piece trophies, Best Playing Pony and MVP awards, guidance from USPA Professional umpires and points to qualify for the USPA National Arena Amateur Cup.

“We look forward to drawing the best competitors in the Northeast for exciting arena polo competition this season,” said Leighton S. Jordan, USPA Northeastern Circuit Governor.
