August marks the beginning of the 2016 Certification Field Test season for the USPA Certified Polo Instructor Program. The United States Polo Association chose the Culver Military Academy located in Culver, Indiana, as one of their premiere testing sites. Program coordinator Jess Downey was accompanied at the event by nationally-renowned certifiers Robin Sanchez of Texas and Cindy Halle of the Garrison Forest School in Maryland.
Together the team evaluated five instructors through a three-day test consisting of four polo lessons and a mock coaching chukker. Instructors included Culver polo staff Ed Little, Savannah Kranich, Frank Stubblefield, along with two additional instructors: Tony Condo of Cornell Polo and Hesham Elezaby, owner of Tinicum Polo Club.
The Certified Polo Instructor Program was launched in December 2015 and currently has 27 certified instructors. Additional information for the program can be found on the USPA PoloSkilz website at www.poloskilz.com or by contacting Jess Downey at jdowney@uspolo.org.
Effective Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020
The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
