Nadir Khan

Chicago, IL

Starting at the young age of 12, Nadir groomed and exercised horses for his uncle in Pakistan, who in turn taught him to ride and play. Today, Nadir is currently rated 3 goals in the arena and 1 goal on the grass. He now manages the polo school for the Barrington Hills Polo Club and helps develop players from their introductory lesson all the way to playing tournament polo. Nadir has designed, organized and executed the Prairie Polo league (0 goal Margarita league) that attracted players and teams from around the Midwest. Since 2014 Nadir has also organized, funded and executed a horse lease program for players. This began the option for polo players in the Chicagoland area to lease horses year-round, so that they can continue to play polo throughout the year. Nadir is also a B rated umpire.

What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?

“Teaching and helping children and adults as they transition from being frightened by horses to playing chukkers. It brings tears to my eyes every time!”
