Jeff has been a member of the USPA for 16 years. He comes from a polo family and grew up around the sport. His teaching career began at only 9 or 10 years old when he started teaching the polo swing to Cornell University students! He entertained himself at the barn by spending his time in the hitting cage perfecting his swing. Jeff started to take his own polo career more seriously when he got to high school and the Cornell Interscholastic team needed another player. When he was around 18 years old, his father started a local group of 4 or 5 students who were interested in learning the sport. He took on a teaching role again at their home field in Preble, New York. Jeff moved on to the west coast in 2010 and started teaching in the Bay Area in California, starting the first ever Interscholastic team in the Bay Area in 2012- Horse Park Interscholastic Polo. In 2016, the California State University, Monterey Bay Intercollegiate Polo Team was formed. Most recently Jeff’s Interscholastic string won the Best Playing Pony and Best string in both the Interscholastic Open Regionals and Girl’s Regionals. In Spring 2017 Jeff took a position with Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club as their head instructor.

What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
“Seeing the growth of the Students that I started in polo. Most notably Aaron Schnieder at Skidmore and Tommy Costelo who is now playing for the Empire Interscholastic Team. I’d like to believe that I was able to lay a foundation of good fundamentals in my students that allows them to build future success wherever they go in the sport.”
