Elizabeth grew up grooming for her father, Bob Beer, who started the Potomac Polo Club and Potomac Polo School in the 1950’s. She began playing at the age of 17 and was quickly immersed into high goal practices attaining a 2-goal handicap by age 26. Elizabeth started teaching in the 1980’s with the inception of the Garrison Forest School polo program, created by Elizabeth, her father, and Dan Colhoun. After the success of the program, the group then launched the Maryland Polo Club; today both programs continue to thrive. Elizabeth continued to manage clubs, play, and teach throughout the 1990’s in the U.S. and United Kingdom. Elizabeth’s additional accomplishments include many MVPs, BPPs, and best string awards. Notably, she played on the team to win the first ladies Argentine Open in 2000 and was a member of the Women’s Committee for many years.
What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
“Watching players that I have taught go on to be excellent players. I like players who improve to the best of their ability and become a real asset to their team.”

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
