BUTLER INTERNTATIONAL CUP

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The Butler International Cup made its debut in 2020 as a 10- to 12-goal tournament. The prestigious trophy first debuted in 1986 between Oak Brook and HRH Prince Charles' Wales polo team before being transformed into a USPA-sanctioned tournament in 2020. Last year's edition featured four teams bearing the flags of Germany, Switzerland, Argentina and the United States.

Returning in 2021, with support from the USPA International Committee for a second consecutive year, the Butler International Cup will showcase an increase to five teams. Hosted by Las Brisas Polo Club and Oak Brook Polo Club, returning champions USA will defend their title with an identical line-up including Jim Drury, Mariano Gutierrez, Toto Obregon and Horacio Onetto. Winning a thrilling final 13-12 over Argentina, USA will be challenged by a second team from the host nation, along with Germany and newcomers Jamaica and Liechtenstein.
