AMERICA CUP™

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The America Cup, formerly known as the 16-Goal Championship, was first played in 1974 and is a national tournament currently held at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in Carpinteria, California. Boca Raton holds the record for most tournament victories, claiming the cup in seven of the first eight years of competition, with John T. Oxley a member of each team. Recent champions include Restoration Hardware (2013, 2018), Farmers & Merchants Bank (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019), Santa Clara (2020) and BenSoleimani.com (2021).

In 2022, a battle between Klentner Ranch (Patrick Uretz, Santiago Toccalino, Jesse Bray, Justin Klentner) and Antelope (Grant Palmer, Joaquin Avendaño, Felipe Vercellino, Matias Torres Zavaleta) came down to the wire to determine the victor. Early contributions from Klentner Ranch’s Uretz and Bray set the offensive tone for a five-goal performance from Toccalino to power past Antelope 11-10, raising the America Cup and the bar for the remainder of the high-goal season. This year's edition of the America Cup will be played as the second preliminary game of the NetJets Pacific Coast Open. Recent Farmers & Merchants Bank Silver Cup champions Brookshire will square off against Farmers & Merchants Bank who are hoping to capture their fifth America Cup title.

U.S. Polo Assn., official global apparel brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), announced it will serve as the Stadium Sponsor and Official Apparel Brand for the 2023 America Cup. U.S. Polo Assn. will be featured in multiple ways including stadium branding and apparel throughout the tournament.
