Changes for 2020 USPA Tournament Prize Money Matching Program

  • Two professional umpires will be required for tournaments that are awarded $6,250 or more in USPA prize money matching funds.
  • If Circuit funding for winter and spring circuits is not used before August 1, 2020, it may be re-allocated to another Circuit upon the review of the Prize Money Committee and respective Circuit Governors.
  • For USPA national, sanctioned and circuit events, the club must provide proof of a minimum of four teams in bracket format.
  • Clubs are encouraged to submit prize money matching applications as early as possible. Applications are due no later than 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the tournament and will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Clubs should submit applications to carlucho@uspolo.org no later than two weeks prior to the commencement of the tournament to be approved by the below committee.

    Criteria for 2020 USPA Tournament Prize Money Matching Program

    • Must be a USPA Active Member Club. Club dues must be paid for the current year and club insurance must be up to date.
    • Must adhere to all USPA Rules.
    • USPA Certified or Professional Umpires are required pursuant to USPA 2020 Tournament Conditions and Umpire Guide
    • Two professional umpires will be required for tournaments that are awarded $6,250 or more in USPA prize money matching funds.
    • Funds are available for “USPA Events” as defined in the 2020 USPA Tournament Conditions.
    • Circuit funding regulations:
      • $75,000 maximum funding for circuits with 20 or more clubs
      • $50,000 maximum funding for circuits with 10-19 clubs
      • $25,000 maximum for circuits with 1-9 clubs
    • If Circuit funding for winter and spring circuits is not used before August 1, 2020, it may be re-allocated to another Circuit upon the review of the Prize Money Committee and respective Circuit Governors.
    • Preference will be given to tournaments at 12-goal level and below.
    • Events above the 12-goal level will be subject to excess funds as available.
    • For USPA national, sanctioned and circuit events, the club must provide proof of a minimum of four teams in bracket format.
    • For single elimination, all tournaments must provide proof of a minimum of eight teams.
    • Maximum of $25,000 available per club.
      • $12,500 maximum for tournaments with less than six teams.
      • $25,000 maximum for tournaments with six or more teams.
    • Goal Level Standard
      • 12 Goal & Above – Maximum available matching funds $25,000.00.
      • 8 Goal – Maximum available matching funds $15,000.00.
      • 6 Goal – Maximum available matching funds $10,000.00.
      • 4 Goal – Maximum available matching funds $6,000.00.
    • Once application is approved, club will establish an escrow account to use for prize money only. When the USPA has confirmation of the club’s funds deposited into the account, they will transfer the matching funds to be paid out as outlined in application.
    • Clubs are encouraged to submit prize money matching applications as early as possible. Applications are due no later than 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the tournament and will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • The USPA will adhere to the set Board Approved Budget for the awarding and funding in any given year.
      • The USPA will not award more than is budgeted and will not allow roll forwards.

    Guidelines for 2020 USPA Tournament Prize Money Matching Program

    • Clubs should submit applications to carlucho@uspolo.org no later than two weeks prior to the commencement of the tournament to be approved by the below committee.
    • Arena leagues that create participation from members across clubs/circuits are encouraged to apply for discretionary funds.
