Players from southern California met at the Lakeside Polo Club in Lakeside, California, to compete in Lakeside’s first USPA Middle School League Tournament. Lakeside Red’s Elise Pardue kicked off the scoring with a shot from the field. Lakeside White responded by tying the score with a goal from Thalia Postins and then took the lead with a tally from Kylie Kufahl. Postins rounded out the first chukker’s scoring to put Lakeside White up by two goals 3-1. Postins and Kufahl combined for three more goals in the second chukker, and with help from teammate Ella Bonilla, held Lakeside Red to a single goal from Ethan Bankhead to take the lead 6-2 at halftime.
Lakeside Red came out firing on all cylinders in the third chukker, with AnaSophia Wolf’s defense and goals from Bankhead and Pardue, Lakeside Red closed the gap to two. Lakeside White’s defense stepped up again in the fourth chukker, holding Lakeside Red scoreless. Goals from Postins and Kufahl sealed the win for Lakeside White, 8-4.
Ella Bonilla, Kylie Kufahl, Elise Pardue and Thalia Postins were elected at tournament All-Stars and AnaSophia Wolf was given the Sportsmanship award by her peers. Best Playing Pony accolades were presented to Plata played by Thalia Postins and owned by Lakeside Polo Club.

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
