Country Farms Polo Club in Medford, New York, in conjunction with NYC Polo Club in Patterson, New York, are pleased to announce the 2016 National Arena Sherman Memorial 3-6 Goal. George C. Sherman was the first president of the Indoor Polo Association in 1915. College polo came of age and indoor polo grew in popularity championed by George Sherman. “I am honored to play, for the second year in a row, in one of the oldest arena tournaments in the USPA. The Sherman Memorial is played to honor one of the giants of arena polo,” said Arena Committee Chairman and Border Circuit Governor Dan Coleman of the Pie Town Javelinas.
Public matches will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 23 - 24. “We look forward to playing for the Sherman Cup and having both clubs, NYC Polo and Country Farm, hosting. Next year we will again work together to make this a premier end of the outdoor season event for the Northeast polo clubs,” said Sam Ramirez Jr., owner of NYC Polo. The Friday match will feature a three team round-robin format; the two teams with the best records will move on to the final on Saturday.

The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
