Las Monijtas' victory in the 2020 C.V. Whitney Cup will be remembered for years to come, as the organization has a long history in American polo having won several of the most prestigious tournaments. Their strong team of players, comprised of Camilo Bautista, Pelón Stirling, Francisco Elizalde and Mackenzie Weisz, now strive to become the 2020 GAUNTLET OF POLO® champions.

“This victory means so much, but we still have to stay focused for the next two tournaments,” 17-year-old Mackenzie told CLICKPOLOUSA. Having given a noteworthy performance on the field, the young player joined Las Monjitas with a drive for excellence and has worked for success since day one.

Born in Wellington, Florida, Mackenzie Weisz grew up around horses. “My Dad [Andres] would always take me on his horse, from the time I was a baby. My parents encouraged my brother and me to participate in every youth tournament possible and so, we always went to the barn early with all the grooms to take sets and ride as much as possible,” he said.

Mackenzie has grown from a young child riding horses to one of the biggest promises of American polo. He has the talent and drive to go very far. The opportunities set before him are not ones he takes lightly. “This year I hope to play my best polo and learn from every opportunity I will be given.”

With the goal of becoming a 10-goal player, Mackenzie said, “I am learning so much. Francisco and Pelón are constantly giving me tips on and off the field on how to better my game. The support of Camilo and the whole Las Monjitas organization is so important, and the energy is so positive. In the future, I hope to continue to have opportunities to play with such amazing players and learn all I can.”
