Hello fellow members of the USPA, my name is Julio Arellano. I was a 9-goal polo professional and I’m currently a coach. I live in Florida during the winters and Aiken, South Carolina for spring and fall. I have played polo since I was nine years old. My father taught me to play and my two brothers, my wife, and three kids play polo.
I have served on several committees including the High-Goal, National Handicap and Rules/Rules Interpretation. I'm currently a Governor-at-Large and serve on the Safety Committee. I see polo starting to flourish again but feel we have lost our medium goal. The USPA is on that with “Bridge to high goal" (B2HG). I feel this will help in two ways, one to see clubs and players work together to maximize the opportunities we have now in sponsors, fields and players. I would like to see the family feel return, club barbecues, barn barbecues, camaraderie. For me that's how new people want to join our sport, because someone invites them over and they love it. I would like the USPA to continue support in some great programs like the help to smaller local clubs in polo development and polo games online, yet cutback on others. Two, it will help America to produce some great players again, our youth need opportunities. Having said that we always need to look at our low goal and arena players, they're our bread and butter. We have lots of potential. Thank you.
God bless,
Julio Arellano

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
