Cecelia Cochran

Cecelia began playing polo in 1996 and has enjoyed a 26-year career as a player in both mixed and women’s polo. She has held a one goal rating for more than 10 years and a five goal rating in women’s polo since the introduction of the women’s handicap system in 2014.

Cecelia’s career has taken her around the globe, having played on five continents. Most recently, in June of 2022, she represented the United States on a 21-goal women’s team in an international test match against the Kenyan Women’s Team held at the Manyatta Polo Club in Kenya. Cecelia currently plays in Florida, South Carolina, and Colorado.

Cecelia’s career includes not only playing polo, but also servicing the sport. She is currently a USPA Governor at Large and is on the Rules Committee, International Committee, and Women’s Committee. In addition, Cecelia is a Women’s Handicapper at Large and has been invited to serve on the new National Polo Center’s Advisory Board of Operations.

Cecelia has focused her service on advancing women’s polo. In 2016, she helped Alina Carta found the Women’s Polo League which served as a template for the founding of multiple women’s leagues around the country. In 2022, Cecelia organized the first women’s, USPA-sponsored team to play in the Women’s FIP event in Palermo, Argentina.

Cecelia’s love of polo stems from a rich family history in the game. Her grandfather, Michael Phipps, is an inductee into the Polo Hall of Fame and her Phipps, Guest and Grace relatives have championed the sport for generations. Cecelia’s life outside of polo includes her partnership in El Cid Fitness in West Palm Beach, as well as real estate and equestrian ventures.
