Stephen Littlechild is currently the coach of the Toronto Girls Interscholastic team. After winding down a career in competitive karate, Stephen was looking for another outlet for his athletic pursuits when his wife, who had been playing for 10 years, suggested that he try the game through an 8-week polo school program offered by the Toronto Polo Club. Now polo is a great family activity as his two daughters play as well.
Running Chukker Hill Farm just north of Toronto with his family, Stephen began teaching polo there about 15 years ago as part of the overall equestrian program. He teaches a variety of private, group lessons and clinics at the facility and throughout the area. Stephen also coaches and manages horses for several very active polo clients at the farm.
What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
"It's always great when you see students experience that moment when the principles that they've been learning about and practicing really start to work for them on the field. It's very gratifying all around and opens up new avenues for skill development once those hurdles or phases have been passed."

The suspension of USPA Tournaments and Events will be lifted for USPA Member Clubs in locales where hosting polo matches and tournaments is permitted under applicable state and local laws, executive orders and similar decrees. The USPA Member Clubs in these locales are encouraged to follow all such requirements of their state and local authorities with respect to polo operations. In addition, we also encourage all USPA Member Clubs to take the precautions recommended by the CDC. We are preparing a detailed list of best practices for USPA Member Clubs as they return to hosting USPA Tournaments and Events and plan to circulate these guidelines within the next week. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify you if we determine a different course of action is necessary.
