Kelli McLean Newton

Silverado, CA

Being an avid equestrian rider since the age of 4, she was introduced to the sport of polo through her equestrian facility in Coto de Caza. Lead by her mothers enthusiasm, the family purchased her the Mother’s Day lesson package and she and Kelli had their first lesson with CPI Heather Perkins. Together, they were hooked! Kelli became a member at OC Polo club in 2011 and got her first polo pony. After graduating from Baylor University, she began working for Heather Perkins and assisted Heather with her Interscholastic students and new players. Orange County Polo Club will be opening up a new facility at Rancho Silverado Stables, located in Silverado Canyon. Orange County will introduce arena polo to the community and surrounding areas.

What has been one of your favorite teaching memories?
My favorite memory was working with my mom, and teaching her how to transition from dressage to polo. She loves polo as much as me! My mom is a member at OC Polo and has her own polo pony, “Appy”. She was named USPA’s most improved player in 2015. I love playing club chukkers with my mom. I’m very proud of her.
