Carlos Galindo

Midland, TX

Carlos has been a member of the USPA since 1978. His original start in polo came from helping his father, who at the time worked for Ronnie Hissom and Hap Sharp in Midland, Texas. Once old enough, Carlos began grooming for Spud Levins and the rest is history. Galindo’s first experience with teaching came in the 1980’s when Tacoma Polo Club asked he and his wife Stacey to run a clinic. During the height of his playing career Carlos achieved a 5-goal outdoor and 6-goal arena handicap. Currently, Carlos is working as a professional player, umpire and assists the USPA programs as a mentor, and clinician.

What is one of your favorite teaching memories?

When I used to give polo lessons to our sponsor's sons, the youngest son just wanted to walk and visit rather than get out of a walk and try to hit the ball. He was probably 12 and could talk A LOT. Luckily, we got him to finally get out of the walk and he ended up being a very capable player and we won many tournaments together!
