USPA Communications Coordinator

USPA Communications Coordinator:

The USPA’s Communications Coordinator facilitates and expedites the flow of information within the USPA and its membership by working with member clubs, promoting club activities, executing media strategy (including a strong social media presence), publishing daily content, and informing and educating fans and the membership. The position provides staff support as directed by the COO, responding to directives and communication objectives as mandated by the Chairman of the Association, the Board of Governors and the annual budget.

Position Description Includes But Is Not Limited To:

    • Works with Executive Director of Communications and Communications Manager for top-tier tournament coverage including website updates, game recaps, social media posts and various aspects of livestream production (interviews, horse lists, announcer scripts, etc.).
    • Writes and distributes game coverage and press releases to media outlets as well as responds to media inquiries.
    • Edits and writes creative and historical content to be used in digital and print communications internally (including POLO magazine) and externally.
    • Generates, edits, publishes and shares daily content (original text, images, video, etc.) that educates, builds meaningful connections and encourages engagement.
    • Responsible for creating email marketing campaigns, including weekly e-newsletter “This Week In Polo.”
    • Coordinates with clubs, writers, photographers, and players to collect tournament coverage.
    • Monitors analytics and creates reports detailing effectiveness of communications strategies.
    • Promotes and increases visibility of USPA member and club activities including tournaments, awards, clinics and programs in an inviting and energizing manner via online platforms including social media, the website, email marketing, etc.
    • Informs and educates membership of changes within the organization including, but not limited to equine welfare, rules, handicaps, etc.
    • Plans and works collaboratively with other departments to manage end-to-end execution of strategic recommendations.
    • Stays up to date on industry trends and makes recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices.
    • Assists in executing communications strategies for USPA committee initiatives.

Skills/ Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree and/or four years related experience in a communication and/or marketing role. Duties will be diverse and multi-faceted, therefore excellent professional skills are vital for this role.
    • Exhibits extensive knowledge of company identity, mission, and goals. Polo background required.
    • Must be an excellent writer and editor, demonstrate a high level of creativity, detail-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines.
    • Requires an analytical mind and ability to think critically.
    • Self-motivated with superior time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Willingness to travel for business purposes.
    • Social media background with at least two years’ experience managing a brand’s social media presence, preferred.
    • Requires excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience working with a Content Management System and knowledge of email marketing platforms such as MyEmma or a similar program.
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Experience working with graphic designers and with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) is highly desirable.
    • Ability to combine administrative, marketing and operations knowledge to achieve organizational goals.
