THE USPA

Tournament Manager

USPA Tournament Manager:

The United States Polo Association’s Tournament Manager will work with all of the member clubs throughout the United States to facilitate and coordinate the Tournaments of the Association. This position is the staff support function of the USPA Services Department as directed by the USPA Executive Director of Services and CEO, responding to directives and communication objectives as mandated by the Chairman of the Association, the Board of Governors and the annual budget.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:·      

•Facilitate the tournament application process

     o   Receive and oversee the tournament applications

     o   Coordinate with Services Admin to ensure Application Compliance

          •  Insurance

          •  Club Dues

     o   Acquire approvals by the respected Circuit Governor/ Tournament Committee

     o   Monitor dates and conflicts

          •  Communicate with Circuit Governors and advise of conflicts

     o   Update Tournament Calendar for Communications Department

•Assist with the collecting of rosters prior to the event

     o   Qualify Teams

          •  Paid USPA Member

          •  Handicap (Appropriate for the Tournament)

•Ensure Tournament adherence to USPA Rules (American Rule, ¾ Rule) and policies

•Facilitate trophy process

•Coordinate the sending BPP Blankets and NYTS Boxes when appropriate

•Communicate with Umpires, LLC to help facilitate umpires for approved tournaments that meet requirements for umpire programs

•Post tournament follow-up

     o   Immediately following conclusion of Tournament obtain Tournament Results from clubs

     o   Collect Photo of the winner

     o   Communicate with Communications Department to help facilitate post game coverage

•Enter tournament results into database for Bluebook production

•Assemble tournament pages in InDesign

     o   Maintain historical tournament information

•Support staff for the USPA Tournament Committee and other committees as directed by Executive Director

     o   Responsible for advising and informing of all pertinent issues as it relates to Tournaments for the respective committees

     o   Implement innovative and logical ideas to improve tournaments and further develop each of the committee’s missions.

•Coordinating with Web Developers on the continued development of the web tournament database and player tracking system

•Develop and implement new ideas to improve the Tournament Department within the USPA

•Ensure that USPA Tournaments are run and operated to the standards of the Association

•Ongoing communication with clubs regarding the status of their Tournaments

•May be required to travel and work on weekends

Onboarding to USPA:

•Will interact with the USPA Executive Director of Services in preparation to assume responsibilities

•Reports to USPA Executive Director of Services

•Position based in USPA Lake Worth Office location

Skills/ Requirements:

•Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

•Experience with InDesign

•Combine management knowledge to achieve organizational goals

•Apply strong management skills to everyday business challenges

•Strong Communication and organizational skills

•Polo Background with knowledge of USPA Rules
