Regional President's Cup

REGIONAL PRESIDENT'S CUP

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The Regional President's Cup has been played at clubs nationwide since 1998. 2019 winning teammates Igor Seyranov and Santiago Wulff have returned this year on Folded Hills/SAPA/FMB Too! in the hopes to win back-to-back championships. Meanwhile, fellow 2019 champion Paige Beard will be competing against them on the Bensoleimani.com/Gipsy team. On par with last year's competition, six teams will take to the field for this national tournament. Amongst the competition is Team USPA member, Bayne Bossom (Rancho Polo), as well as Graduating Team USPA member Jesse Bray (Klentner Ranch), and Team USPA alumni Jim Wright (Barrossa/Del Padre), Remy Muller (BenSoleimani.com/Gipsy) and Tomas Alberdi (BenSoleimani.com/Gipsy).

Beginning in 2020, Regional President’s Cup tournaments held nationwide will once again serve as a qualifying tournament for the National President’s Cup. The return of this tournament format will bring together teams representing USPA Member Clubs around the country and restore the relationship between the two trophies. The 2020 National President’s Cup will be held at New Bridge Polo & Country Club (Aiken, South Carolina) at the height of the competitive season. The National President’s Cup shall give priority entry to first and second place Regional President’s Cup teams of the same year.

USPA Outdoor Rules and procedures will be used for the timing of the final period, tack times and injured horses. International Rules will be used for riding into the swing.

THE VENUE

For over 100 years, Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club (SBPRC) has provided a world class polo facility for polo patrons, professionals and amateurs of all levels. Situated between the Carpinteria Foothills and the Pacific Ocean, the club offers an unparalleled location for adrenaline-filled competition. Santa Barbara Polo Club offers over six months of polo each year at a variety of levels. Their season begins in mid-April when local California players are invited to play in casual club chukkers before the start of the spring season. Their 12-goal season runs from May to June, followed by their prominent high-goal season. The Pacific Coast Open is the highlight of the summer season and is the only Open tournament on the West Coast.

Learn about polo and be part of the club through lessons in the arena and on the grass, clinics, coaching league, arena league and camps for adults and youth at the new Polo Academy.
