NATIONAL ARENA CHALLENGE CUP
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The National Arena Challenge Cup is a 3- to 6-goal tournament first played for in 1987. After a decades-long hiatus, the tournament was revived at Commonwealth Polo Club in Paris, Kentucky, where it was hosted for three years. The National Arena Challenge Cup has found a new home in 2020 at Great Meadow Polo Club in The Plains, Virginia. Four teams will compete in the arena for the opportunity to claim the 2020 championship including Burdick Equine, Celebrity Cruises, Dentons Defender Polo Team and Mystique Jewelers. The National Arena Challenge Cup will offer $10,000 in total prize money as part of the USPA Tournament Prize Money Matching Program. The prize will be split between first ($6,000) and second place ($4,000).
During the 2019 National Arena Challenge Cup Final Eden Polo challenged 2018 defending champions UK Polo for the trophy, but UK Polo could not be overcome and claimed their second consecutive title 11-9. Among the 2020 competition are two Team USPA alumni, Todd Thurston (Burdick Equine) and Connor Deal (Dentons Defender Polo Team).
