National Arena Amateur Cup

Tournament History

The National Arena Amateur Cup (NAAC) is a brand-new initiative aimed to inject excitement into the sport for present and future members. The idea grew out of discussions concerning how to excite and incentivize present players to play more, play longer and invest more time into the sport. The aspiration of the program is to extend local players’ investments into their home clubs and tournament structure and encourage inter-circuit and national play. The new 2019 NAAC format creates an opportunity to showcase the accessibility of amateur polo and to incentivize amateur players to participate longer and more frequently in USPA tournaments, at their home clubs, home Circuits and nationally. All amateur players rated -1 through 3 goals are eligible. In accordance with National Arena Amateur Cup rules, no player may have a handicap higher than the upper limit of the event. Orange County Polo Club in Silverado, California, will once again be hosting the National Arena Amateur Cup and four teams will compete for the win! Once players committed to participate, the National Host Tournament Committee formed teams to compete at the 0- to 3-goal level of the tournament. This new format will start in the arena in 2019 with future plans to expand to the National Amateur Cup (outdoor).

The Venue

Originally known as Winston Polo Club, the Orange County Polo Club (OC Polo Club) was established in 1987 at a stable near Anaheim Stadium and has been located at many equestrian facilities throughout the years. In 2015, club owner Denny Geiler purchased an older stable and built brand-new state of the art stables (Rancho Silverado Stables) and a polo facility, giving the OC Polo Club a permanent home in Silverado, California. The facility features two polo arenas, stabling for over 60 horses and a clubhouse which serves as a central gathering place for family and friends. OC Polo Club offers polo and riding lessons which are available to beginners and players of all skill levels.
