National Amateur Cup
Tournament History
Established in 2004, the National Amateur Cup is a national outdoor 4-goal tournament. Hosted at Lexington Polo Association (Lexington, Kentucky) until 2015, the tournament experienced a three-year hiatus and was then revived on the west coast in 2019. Since coming to Empire Polo Club (Indio, California), the National Amateur Cup has seen Hanalei Bay capture two consecutive titles in 2019 and 2020. Seeking to redeem their loss the previous day to Zahedi Chogan, Hanalei Bay proved accurate from the penalty line in the 2020 final, capturing the National Amateur Cup trophy 13-11.5. Seeking a three-peat victory in 2021, defending champions Hanalei Bay have returned with two members of the 2020 winning team, Krista Bonaguidi and Ryan Kerley. Challenging them will be five additional teams including the all-women Melody Ranch (Oatsy von Gontard, Caroline Anier, Jessica Bailey, Dayelle Fargey), Dungar, Empire, La Fortuna/Blazers, Melody Ranch and Myers Ranch.
