Keleen & Carlton Beal Cup 12-Goal
Tournament History
Houston Polo Club in Houston, Texas, proudly hosts the Keleen & Carlton Beal Cup 12-Goal each fall to honor the legacy of husband and wife Carlton and Keleen Beal, who dedicated much of their lives to the sport of polo. Inducted into the Polo Hall of Fame in 1992, according to the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame, Carlton Beal “began polo on a bicycle and later in the 1930s under his father's guidance and the tutelage of Hugh Drury and Snowy Baker, at Menlo School and at Stanford [University]. Highlights of his active career included the Monty Waterbury Cup in 1950 at Meadow Brook Polo Club [Old Westbury, New York], the U.S. Open Polo Championship® in 1952 at the Beverly Hills Polo Club [Beverly Hills, California], and in 1956, rated at 6-goals, the Inter-Circuit Cup with two of his sons at Oak Brook Polo Club [Oak Brook, Illinois]. His playing career was matched by his devotion to every aspect of polo from club activities in California and Texas to governorship of the U.S. Polo Association, the Polo Training Foundation, and the Polo Museum.”
This year, five teams will vie for the title, including 2016 defending champions Tonkawa who return to the field with new addition Cody Ellis. Joining them will be BTA, Eureka, Ghurka and Whitehall Ranch.
