NATIONAL YOUTH TOURNAMENT SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP®

Tournament History

Established in 2013, the National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS) program provides outdoor clubs the framework for hosting USPA-sanctioned tournaments. Players age 19 and under holding a minimum -1 goal handicap are eligible to participate, allowing youth players the opportunity to compete against their friends. A unique and crucial step in developing a young player, the program instills valuable lessons about being a team player, while improving a participant's polo game. At each qualifier, NYTS All-Stars are named for their exceptional horsemanship, sportsmanship and skill, both on and off the field. Players nominated as All-Stars are eligible for selection in their respective zones for the National Championship Cecil Smith Cup and NYTS Girls Championship.

The NYTS Subcommittee was forced to make the difficult decision this year to host just one Open Division at the Championship level. The USPA is pleased that the teams are well represented by both male and female participants and will be showcasing the top youth players.

The four regions, Western, Central, Eastern and Florida will compete at Port Mayaca Polo Club (Okeechobee, Florida) for the chance to reach the final on Field 1 at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (Wellington, Florida) and capture the 2020 National Youth Tournament Series Championship®. Defending Champions Eastern Region will look to repeat with returning players Aiden Meeker and Winston Painter joined by newcomers Sophie Grant and Hunter van Der Burgt. Other returning players include Western Region's Riley Jordan, Central Region's Vance Miller III and Florida Region's Hope Arellano, Landen Daniels and Jack Whitman.

The semifinals and final will be livestreamed and available exclusively on Global Polo TV.

The Venue

Situated in South Florida, surrounded by vast sugar cane fields and the popular fishing body of Lake Okeechobee, Port Mayaca Polo Club (PMPC) has steadily become a destination for winter polo. Located on more than 600 sprawling acres, the club has eight regulation fields, club barns with 220 stalls, an exercise track, a stick-and-ball field, a clubhouse and several acres of pastures for turnout and trail riding.

While consistent, quality polo is at the forefront of the club’s objectives, a tight-knit sense of community supports it. The club hosts a lunch or cookout after every club practice. A beautiful pavilion style clubhouse provides an enjoyable gathering place for players to congregate and discuss their latest game.
